“I don’t think either side won this war, skipper.” ~original (too long) title.

The Story:

Two rival factions were so obsessed with destroying each other that their respective superweapons ended up destroying the planet on which they resided.

The Reason:

So my mates had already expressed an interest in a destroyed world, which gave me a pretty good idea. Then I saw Beyond the Frontier’s Lost Lands competition and I decided to do one to really stretch myself. So for three days I went pretty much nuts on Photoshop, bringing my A-game.

The process:

Started off looking at Voyager’s guide here [link] to get an idea as to what to do, seeing as there are no other destroyed planet tutorials. I am not a speed painter, but the idea got me going.

I also cruised some stocks to get some idea; I used these [link]§ion=&global=1&q=asteroid#/d3czr9, [link]§ion=&global=1&q=asteroid#/dpxgsz, [link]§ion=&q=dead#/d1d9fco, though there were many others that got my attention.

Hope you love it!

Habatchii Says-

The layout and approach both have a intersecting depth, yet realism and environment still should be matured.

Apparently, your theorem involves a mode of atmospheric fission (most inhabitable planet sustain large volumes of hydration).

Basic lighting and placement could certainly bring out more details in the dimensions (planet's surface, asteroid berth, movement of remains)

Clouded articulations of breakage denotes a strain on resources (depth of field should be used to emphasize both the remaining formations and the fallen ones.)

Deriving a final grade of C- would be a very POPULAR critical analysis do to the nature and graphical content. A novice B for the novice. Try creating a continuity within the piece by changing perspective (from the planet surface, from a satellite/bay/etc.)
